2019 Subaru Crosstrek
Earlier this year, the Subaru Crosstrek got a complete redesign. In real Subaru fashion, however, this redesign did not consist of a big styling upgrade to set it apart from the previous generation. For 2019, we expect the freshly upgraded Crosstrek to remain entirely unchanged.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Changes
We don’t anticipate any visual changes in the 2019 Crosstrek relative to the recently revamped 2018 model. This redesigned body includes more running lines than in the past, scalloped door panels, restyled headlights, and more. The upgraded Crosstrek also has a new chassis that allows its wheelbase to grow by 1.2 inches, its width to increase 0.9 inches, and its total body length to grow by 0.6 inches.
On top of a makeover on the inside, the redesigned Crosstrek’s cabin also grew quite significantly. With exception to headroom, virtually every seating measurement grew with the redesign, consisting of hip space and legroom in the front and rear seats. Likewise enhanced was its optimum freight room, which grew by 3.4 cubic feet to 55.3 cubes, though space with the seats upright took a 1.5-cubic-foot hit to 20.8 cubes.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Engine
The new-generation Crosstrek also received a revised variation of its 2.0-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. Subaru fine-tuned its output, raising it to 152 horse power– a 4-hp gain– while its torque stayed the same at 145 pound-feet. We expect this to stay the very same in 2019. At the moment, there are no indicators that Subaru will be bringing back the Crosstrek Hybrid.
We also anticipate the transmission options to bring into the 2019 Crosstrek the same, including its standard six-speed handbook transmission on the base and Premium trims and the basic continuously variable transmission with manual mode on Limited trims. The base and Premium trims will also continue to have an optional CVT readily available.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Safety
The 2018 Crosstrek hasn’t undergone IIHS testing yet, but the 2017 model was a Top Safety Pick and the redesign introduced 40% enhanced crash-energy absorption. This indicates the redesigned Crosstrek should be at least a Top Safety Pick, and possibly even a Top Safety Pick Plus if it can score more than an “Acceptable” score in the headlight test. This need to all stay the exact same in 2019.
2019 Subaru Crosstrek Pricing & Release Date
Though we don’t have a main release date, we do expect to see the 2019 Crosstrek in showrooms in the summer of 2018. Given that there are no changes in the works, we don’t expect much of a shift in prices from the 2018 Crosstrek’s price series of $23,710 to $27,210 (destination charges consisted of). Secret competitors for the 2019 Crosstrek will include the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and the Jeep Renegade.
